Deconstruction of Bec Winnel's Work cont..

These are simple deconstructions I have done of Bec Winnels illustrations. I done a page of faces and a page of bodies. This was to help me understand Bec Winnels style a little more.

I chose to do a brief deconstruction of this illustration by Bec Winnel as it featured the full body. This is a key feature in fashion illustrations. The illustration is very detailed around the face, hands and legs, but there is minimal detail on the garment, with slight shading at the shoulders.

I used to layout paper to achieve the basic shape of the body, then I placed guide lines in to show very basic shapes to build up an illustration.

After that I then filled the outline in with detail to create the full body. The figures in Bec Winnels illustrations are very lifelike in their proportion.

This is my own attempt at recreating Bec Winnels illustration in Photoshop. It took a very long time to get it to look as close as possible to the original. I scanned in my pencil outline to Photoshop and began to add new layers. On each new layer I added various colours of skin to blend them together by using the Gaussian blur filter, for a subtle and realistic look. With the eyes I built up a few layers and added in a little detail as when the image was zoomed out you cannot see the finer details. Again, like my last version of Bec Winnels illustration, I used the same eyelash and eyebrow brushes; this was to achieve a more realistic look and feel to the illustration. I noticed in Bec Winnels illustration that there was very little detail in the garment, the face seems to be the main focal point in her illustrations which I really like.  Therefore I did not add any detail to the garment and focused instead on the face and skin. I'm really pleased with the final result as think it looks like the original; I used the colour picker in Photoshop with the original illustration to get close colour matches. I used a base colour for the skin and hair, then on new layers gave the illustration more depth. I changed the background colour slightly as I think it looked better with my version of Bec Winnels illustration and to make it stand out more.
