Combining My Chosen Illustrators

This was my first go at combining my two illustrators, I really liked the simplicity of Wai's illustration but I also liked the detail in Bec Winnels illustrations. I decided to keep the shapes and features simple but to add more shading in to create more detail. I also really liked the pink tones in the hair of the Bec Winnel illustration that I deconstructed so I decided to use this in my own illustrations.
This illustration was too simple and I felt certain features required more detail like the hair.

This was my second illustration and as you can see I have added more detail to the hair. I also decided to add eyelashes as Bec Winnels illustrations all have beautiful, long, dark lashes. I think it adds a really feminine look to the illustration. I attempted to add some detail to the dress using shading and also to the skin.

I really like how Wai's illustrations have backgrounds and they feel like they tell a story so I decided that I would like to incorporate this into my own illustrations. I also added a flower into the hair as I really liked Bec Winnels use of flowers in her illustrations. In Wai's illustrations she uses various shades of the same colour but I wanted to use various colours to make it different and create my own style.

This was another attempt at combining my two illustrators. Again I used another of Wai's backgrounds but changed the colour scheme. I added more detail to the dress and coat and used the same hair as before. Again I added a flower into the hair.

This is the illustration by Wai that I previously deconstructed. I decided to try and combine both styles using this template. I changed the eyes so they were more realistic, I added a little more shape to the nose and lips, although I did keep the lips the same shape. I added a flower into the hair to incorporate Bec Winnels style as well as drawing the hair in detail.

This is another attempt at combining the two styles of my chosen illustrators together. In this illustration I used my own design and I changed the background colours and the colours of the photographer. Again I added detail to the eyes and the hair.

This was originally going to be my final illustration but I decided against it as I did not feel that I had incorporated enough of each style. The jacket is my own design of a product I am making for my Dissertation and is based on The Pompidou Centre and Paris, which is why I wamted to include that in the background. I do not feel that there is enough detail in the face to incorporate Bec Winnels style and I felt it was heavily focused on Wai's style.

These illustrations are all done in watercolour pencils because I was practising how to combine both styles together.
