About Bec Winnel

Bec Winnel is a self taught artist and illustrator with formal training in Graphic Arts / Design from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, where she now lives. Her ideas are triggered mostly by emotions or by visual stimulation; fashion photography, people in the street or an emotional reaction to a song. She creates her illustrations by blending layer upon layer of colour pencil, graphite and pastel.  On her computer she has thousands of images that she’s collected that provide reference or inspiration. Lilly Piri is her favourite illustrator. Brett Whitely & Leonardo Da Vinci are her favourite artists.

 I love Bec Winnels work as it is realistic yet slightly whimsical and soft. She uses a variety of mediums which give a different dimension to her work compared to other illustrators.
